Romelu Lukaku deflected questions over his future to Chelsea after shining in Belgium’s 2-2 draw with England. The striker, who is on loan at Roma from the west Londoners, will return to Stamford Bridge in the summer and does not seem to be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

Lukaku excelled at Wembley on Tuesday night, providing a reminder to English fans of his qualities after a difficult spell at Chelsea. His wonderful cross with the outside of his left foot found Youri Tielemans to head home to make the scoreline 2-1.

Some at Chelsea may argue that Lukaku is the best centre-forward on their books. Pochettino’s forwards have struggled for goals this season – while the 30-year-old has scored 18 times across all competitions in Italy.

Asked by Sky Sports whether he wants to impress whenever he plays in England, Lukaku laughed and bluntly responded: “You’ll have to ask Chelsea.”

Belgium were frustrated after leading 2-1 for the majority of the second half. Ivan Toney had cancelled out Tielemans’ early goal before the Aston Villa midfielder struck again just before half-time.
