Novak Djokovic, following a distressing defeat at the Italian Open, plans to undergo medical evaluations after experiencing symptoms of nausea and dizziness due to being struck on the head by a spectator’s bottle in a prior match

After enduring one of the most significant defeats in his career, Novak Djokovic, the world’s top-ranked player, has expressed concerns about his health.

Following his recent match at the Italian Open, where he suffered a resounding 6-2, 6-3 loss against Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, Djokovic revealed experiencing symptoms of nausea and dizziness. These symptoms, he stated, stem from an incident in his preceding match, during which he was struck on the head by a bottle thrown by a spectator.

During the match against Tabilo, Djokovic displayed uncharacteristic performance metrics, including 22 unforced errors, five double faults, and an absence of any break points.

Reflecting on his performance, he expressed feeling as though he was embodying a different player altogether.

The incident occurred on Friday, following Djokovic’s second-round victory over Corentin Moutet, while he was engaging with fans and signing autographs. A spectator’s aluminum bottle, seemingly slipping from a bag, struck Djokovic on the head.
