Luka Doncic was so excited about his historic night against the Utah Jazz that he dropped two swear words in a post-game TV interview.
With 29 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists through two quarters, the Dallas Mavericks star became the first player in NBA history to reach a 25-point triple-double before halftime.
The supremely talented point guard finished the game with 40 points, ten rebounds and eleven assists as the Mavs blew out the Jazz, 147-97.
The 24-year-old was understandably over the moon with his performance, and hilariously managed to spoil another TV interview with his x-rated analysis of the game.
“I said before the game, you know, we just can’t f** around,” Doncic said on the Mavericks’ Bally Sports program before quickly realizing his mistake. “Ah, s***.”
Fans were loving Luka’s honest approach to interviewing.
“Luka we’re on live”, one fan joked.
“At this point I’m sure he’s betting with the guys how much he can swear in postgame interview,” said another.
“Bro that “my bad” is so wholesomely adorable,” a third wrote.
“Luka being Luka,” a fourth responded.
This isn’t the first time Doncic has dropped an f-bomb in a live TV interview, and funnily enough the previous occasion also came after he registered a triple-double.
Luka scored 33 points with 13 rebounds and ten assists in a 126–119 win over Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on opening night this season.
Following the win, the Slovenian dropped the expletive during a postgame interview with an ESPN reporter.
“He played f***ing amazing,” Doncic said, before realising what he’d said and apologising.
With his latest triple-double, Doncic surpassed Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird for ninth all-time in career triple-doubles with 60.
Doncic currently only trails four active players on the all-time triple-double leaderboard: Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, James Harden and Nikola Jokic.
Furthermore, it was his seventh regular season game with at least 40 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists, surpassing LeBron and tying Wilt Chamberlain for the fourth most all time.
It certainly won’t be the last record of Doncic’s career, who has emerged as an absolute superstar since being drafted in 2018. Luka is currently averaging 31.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game this season and is second in the league in points per game behind reigning MVP Joel Embiid (33.1). Following the Jazz win, the Mavericks move to 11-8 on the season, good enough for the No.6 seed in the Western Conference.
