Barcelona has shown interest in Federico Chiesa as they seek to strengthen their squad with a new left winger. According to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport,’ Barcelona inquired about Chiesa’s situation at Juventus. The Italian international has not played much since Thiago Motta became the coach, and Juventus seems ready to sell him.

Barcelona’s interest in Federico Chiesa comes at a time when the player remains excluded from Thiago Motta’s plans. The Juventus board sees an opportunity to transfer Chiesa, and the player himself seems eager to move to La Liga. They are discussing a transfer fee of around 14 million euros. This amount reflects his current contract status, which expires next year. Barcelona would also need to negotiate his salary, as Chiesa earns approximately 5 million euros per season in Turin.

Reports from Italy indicate that Barcelona initially considered signing Rafael Leao from Milan. However, Milan declared Leao non-transferable. Barcelona’s financial situation under Joan Laporta’s presidency does not support a move for the Portuguese star, who is valued at over 100 million euros and is under contract until 2028.

If Barcelona manages to sign Federico Chiesa, they will address the gap left by their unsuccessful pursuit of Nico Williams. Williams has chosen to stay with Athletic Club. Barcelona has already secured Dani Olmo. However, the club faces challenges in registering him in La Liga. Hansi Flick could not include him in the squad for the opening day victory against Valencia.
