Brentford has secured the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool in a deal valued at up to £27.5 million. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder joins the Bees on a five-year contract, with an additional year option.
The initial transfer fee for Fabio Carvalho is £22.5 million, with potential add-ons of £5 million. As part of the agreement, Liverpool retains a 17.5% sell-on clause.
Carvalho attracted interest from Southampton and Leicester before opting for Brentford. Thomas Frank, Brentford’s head coach, expressed his excitement, stating, “Fabio brings a lot of quality to our squad. He’s versatile and can play across the front positions in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. His best role is likely as a No. 10 or cutting in from the left.”
Frank further highlighted Carvalho’s offensive strengths: “He’s excellent on the ball, capable of beating players, making key passes, and creating or finishing chances. He adds a unique element to our squad.”
Carvalho joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2022 for £5 million, after emerging as one of Fulham’s standout youth prospects. He made 21 appearances for Liverpool, scoring three goals, before spending the latter half of the last season on loan at Hull City. During his loan, he netted nine goals in 20 Championship matches, following a brief stint at RB Leipzig earlier in the campaign.
Fulham, as part of their previous deal with Liverpool, will receive 20% of the profit from Carvalho’s transfer to Brentford.
