David de Gea has found himself a new club 12 months after his departure from Manchester United, inking a contract with Serie A side Fiorentina.

De Gea left United last summer following the expiration of his contract and spent last season without a club, rejecting interest from the Middle East while he worked on his fitness behind the scenes.

A handful of Serie A clubs have been linked with De Gea this summer but it is Fiorentina who have now confirmed his arrival.

He joins a Fiorentina side who have been looking to upgrade in goal this summer and had previously looked at Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic, whose future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain following the arrival of Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.

De Gea will be formally presented to the media on Monday.
