Cristiano Ronaldo YouTube debut: Ronaldo has now ventured into YouTube with his personal channel, UR Cristiano.
Cristiano Ronaldo has expanded his immense social media influence to YouTube. Known for his massive following across Facebook, X, and Instagram, Ronaldo now aims to conquer YouTube. His channel, UR Cristiano, went live on Wednesday and quickly attracted over six million subscribers on launch day.
The channel’s “About” section reads: “Welcome to UR Cristiano – the official YouTube channel of Cristiano Ronaldo. SIUUUbscribe!”
Immediately, Ronaldo uploaded 12 videos. This suggests the channel has been planned for some time. Views for these videos vary from 400,000 to over 2.5 million.
The most-watched video features Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, playing ‘Mr & Mrs.’ Other videos include Ronaldo rating a goal he scored for Portugal against Greece at Euro 2004 and comparing free-kicks taken by himself and his son, Cristianinho. There’s also a video about overcoming adversity, which is just a clip from a press conference. It seems Rodriguez will be a prominent feature on the channel.
All videos are brief, with many under one minute and none exceeding three minutes.
While YouTube has seen success with American sports stars like those in the NFL and NBA, it’s relatively new in football. Manchester United and England’s Ella Toone started a vlog-style channel in late 2022 to leverage her growing popularity. Before Ronaldo, retired goalkeeper Ben Foster was notable on YouTube with his channel, The Cycling GK.
On the pitch, Ronaldo remains under contract with Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League until the end of the 2024/25 season. His goal tally surged upon leaving Europe, with 50 goals in 51 games last season. However, he struggled at Euro 2024 with Portugal. Ronaldo will mark his 40th birthday in early 2025.
