Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has assured fans that Kevin de Bruyne will stay with the club despite intense speculation about a move to Saudi Arabia.

De Bruyne, who has one year left on his Manchester City contract, recently hinted at the possibility of moving due to the “incredible money” offered by the Saudi Pro-League. Despite these rumors, Guardiola remains confident.

“Kevin isn’t leaving,” Guardiola said to reporters before his side’s opening pre-season match against Celtic in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Wednesday (00:30 BST).

De Bruyne played a key role in securing Manchester City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title last season and has won six titles with the club overall.

Amidst these discussions, Crystal Palace’s England Euro 2024 squad member Eberechi Eze has been rumored to be a potential target for City. Additionally, Brazil goalkeeper Ederson has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia.

Guardiola believes the team will mostly stay intact. “If someone leaves, we’ll address it,” he noted. “We have until the transfer window closes to make changes. I don’t rule out new players, but there’s an 85, 90, or even 95% chance we’ll keep the same squad.”

Manchester City will start their Premier League title defense against Chelsea on 18 August.
