The Clippers will likely be without former MVP Russell Westbrook for several weeks after he fractured his left hand in the first half of their 140-115 win over the Washington Wizards.
The point guard played 10 minutes and left the game for good with 8:10 left in the second quarter with six points and an assist
Head coach Tyronn Lue said the Clippers were still evaluating the injury.
“I just feel bad for Russ right now,” he said. “You never want to see a player get hurt. Poole drove and tried to deflect the ball from behind. I think he hit his elbow on his hand.”
He already broke his other hand
Westbrook, 35, rarely misses time due to injury. But in the second game of the 2014-15 season, Westbrook broke his right hand. He underwent surgery on Nov. 1 and returned to action on Nov. 28, 2014, missing 14 games.
This season, he is averaging 11.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for the Clippers, who sit fourth in the NBA Western Conference.
